About This Course: This comprehensive video course consolidates a lifetime of learning and experiences abroad regarding the topic of Origins and people’s general thinking processes. My interest in these subjects began in high school when biology classes introduced evolutionism as the scientific explanation for our origins, contrasting it with creationism, which was presented as a religious explanation if it was mentioned at all. This classical contrast of reason versus faith intrigued me, setting the stage for a journey of inquiry.   While attending a private Christian college, my academic journey took an unexpected turn. I encountered professors who presented creationism as a scientific theory and religious belief.  This seemingly contradictory position piqued my interest even further.  These scientists had formidable training and expertise, prompting me to question the boundaries between reason and faith.   Some time later, I was a professor at a State university in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, South America, and a doctoral student. Being on both sides of the lectern, I witnessed firsthand the impact of culture on education and perception.  During my research I came across a quote by evolutionary biologist Stephen Jay Gould which shed light on the influence of theory, habit, prejudice, and culture on our interpretation of objective facts. “First, facts do not come to us as objective items seen in the same unambiguous way by all reasonable people.  Theory, habit, prejudice, and culture all influence the facts we choose to observe and the way in which we perceive them.”  The mention of the factor of culture within a scientific context intrigued me, igniting a quest to understand how these factors shape our biases and perceptions. Thus, this project examines and reveals how theory, habit, prejudice, and culture influence individuals’ inclinations toward a particular theory of Origins. Through fifteen thought-provoking chapters, we explore how these factors mold our observations and interpretations of reality; our way of thinking.  Each chapter offers not only knowledge but valuable insights gleaned from our discoveries.   We invite you to join us on this journey to actively engage, challenge, and share your perspectives as we unravel the intricate dynamics that shape our understanding of the world in which we live . . .
